An Experience/Encounter: Dance in My Yoke with Me!

I had been studying Matthew 11:28-30:  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I had been thinking about “yokes” and considering how animals get trained by coming under one who is stronger and experienced. But this still seemed like “work” to me and Jesus said: “It is finished,” that HE did all the work…

Then He showed me that the “work” we have to do is to believe (John 6:29) and our striving is to enter into His rest and stay there (Hebrews 4:11).

Next I considered the biblical prohibitions against yoking unequal creatures together (Deut.22:10, 2 Cor.6:14). Did Jesus forget that or ignore it when He said He WANTS us to come under His yoke?

The Lord then reminded me that as a Kainos new creation (2 Cor.5:17) we are His family members: we ACTUALLY belong!

In 1 Cor.6:17, we are told that if we are joined to the Lord we are ONE spirit with Him. Indeed, we see the Bridegroom King (Jesus) calling us His Bride, His sister (Song of Songs 4:10-16). Jesus doesn’t just tolerate us: He is wildly in love with us!

Then I heard His voice tell me,

“Beloved, come dance with Me! We are in the Great Dance together and My embrace is your only yoke.”
