Stop Sabotaging Yourself: The Hidden Beliefs Keeping You Stuck
Have you ever known exactly what you needed to do—and then watched yourself do the opposite?
You want to change. You pray about it. You make the decision. You try harder. Maybe you succeed for a while…and then somehow you end up right back where you started.
So you try harder – again.
But what if trying harder is part of the problem?
What happens when you are trying to create a life you don’t actually believe is possible? When one part of you is reaching for freedom while another part is quietly whispering, I can’t change. I’m not enough. This is just who I am. I’ve tried before. It won’t work.
That is where self-sabotage begins.
And here is the fascinating part: your emotions may be exposing those hidden beliefs every day. Anxiety, fear, frustration, inadequacy, worry, even the relentless need to perform can act like a check-engine light—not something to condemn or suppress, but a signal that something underneath needs attention.
This is much bigger than positive thinking. It goes directly to one of Christianity’s most powerful—and often underdeveloped—ideas: the renewing of your mind.
What if transformation isn’t primarily about forcing yourself to become a better version of the old you? Scripture says something far more radical: in Christ, you are a new creation. What if freedom begins when what you believe about yourself finally starts agreeing with what God says is true?
Maybe the question isn’t: “How can I try harder?”
Maybe it’s: “What am I believing that keeps pulling me backward—and what would happen if I finally believed something different?”
