Stop Chasing Religious Experiences: Learn to Rest in God with Mike Parsons

What if our hunger for the next encounter with God has quietly become another form of religion?

We can spend years chasing the next conference, revelation, prophetic word, spiritual experience, heavenly encounter, or breakthrough—always believing that something more is just ahead. But what if God isn’t waiting for us at the end of the chase? What if He is already here, already present, already within—and our relentless pursuit of another experience is actually keeping us from recognizing Him?

Mike Parsons has challenged many familiar assumptions about pursuing spiritual experiences, emphasizing relationship, rest, union, and living from the reality of God’s abiding presence. That raises an uncomfortable question: Have we simply exchanged one religious treadmill for a more spiritual-looking one?

There is nothing wrong with encounters with God. But encounters were never meant to become trophies we collect or destinations we endlessly pursue. Perhaps the invitation of spiritual maturity is far more radical: stop chasing God and begin enjoying the God who is already present.
